studiomaster pro line 16/4/8 gold, what you think ??

hi,
anybody knows this console, i'd like to know what you think about ...
my goal is to record with a 8 tracks tape record , is that good for studio recording ??

I'm not all that familiar with the "gold" or "Pro" line, or for Studiomaster for that matter. I recently acquired a Studiomaster 16x8x2 mixer and so far (I still have some pots and faders to finish cleaning) it is pretty awesome. The EQ on the thing is pretty sweet. It seems the mic pre amps in it have a pretty good punch to them as they can drive my SM7b mic without any external help, unlike my Tascam M-2516 (or anything else for that matter!).

never used that one but i've gotta 8x4 mixer of thiers around here that used for decades as a keyboard mixer and worked well until i let my nephew use it... it's still resurectable...
