hey:D :D :D :D ,
whats the latest with our little project?
any new news with it? we're all a bit upset that it hasnt been posted yet.:( :(

I hate to go off subject here but.....
Does anybody know of a database program for reading a list of files off your hard drive. I use Autocad, and I would like to keep a database of my drawing files and be able to add new project folders to the database as time goes on. I can find all kinds of file database programs, but none of them will let me have more than a couple customized fields. I would like to be able to create fields to identify different aspects of the drawing like size, brand, ETC. I tried doing it in Access, but I don't know enough about programming. Besides, I think you have to write a bit of Visual Basic code to get Access to read a hard drive. Sorry for being off subject, but if any of you guys know of a program that already does this, I would appreciate a name or something. I have been trying to do this for years.

bump. No Stress Crimson - just don't want this falling off the bottom.. :) If there is anything I can do - just let me know - testing, proofreading etc...

Cheers
Kevin.

Hey guys, I didn't forget you all. Just have been burried under a pile of work :(

I actually thought that with only the persons database working it was a bit early to upload it already, as it still does nothing else. If anyone is really interested in it at this point, let me know and I'll put it up for download.

I really promise to continue this project but I will have to find the time to do it. This means that sometimes nothing might happen for a month or so and sometimes I will be able to do a lot of work on it in one week ;)

@djc: this might not be what you are looking for, but it's freeware and it's aimed at managing drawings:

hello there crimson!!!

hopefully itll be posted before ya know it.......

Hey spacedye, thanks for the heads-up. I will see if I can put some stuff in over this weekend (but I'm beta-testing a software plugin Moog Modular emulation, so I have to drag me away from that ;) ).

In the meantime I've got another idea to add to the spec of the program: Sample-management. Anyone interested in this. Think about being able to archive all your online and offline samples and link used samples to projects. Then let the program restore the full sample-content for any given project when you need to work on it. It could be combined (I think) with the media-management.

Let me know what you guys think about this ;)

TrackRecord Project

Hello...

"Longsoughtfor" replied to a post of mine earlier today and sent me the link to your thread about the TrackRecord project. I've just read the entire thread and must say that this looks like a really useful and much needed piece of software. Are you considering including any studio business/accounting capabilities?
For instance...deposits taken on projects and the balance due for several different clients....a place to keep track of tax deductable expenditures (repairs, supplies, new gear etc...)? Also...I'd love to be able to keep track of hours spent. Just a few suggestions from someone new.

Thanks for listening and what a great thing you are doing Crimson!

Regards...

Marc

Not everything is planned yet, but after we have the basic framework finished I see no problem in implementing additional stuff like that. The only thing is this: this project is going to take quite some time to get to a usefull level so you must be patient if you need it ;)

Peter.

Patience

Peter....

Patience is a virtue! As of now, I'm just an interested observer and totally patient...excited to watch everything develop. If I have any other bright ideas I'll chime in!

Later....

CrimsonWarlock. Your app in the works sounds wonderful! We could use it extensively here in the studio. What are you coding it in? What's your day job?

Can't wait for the completion of the project. If you need beta testing let us know.

cheers

It's being coded in WinDev, a high end development package (NOT from MS).

My day job is (not surprisingly) running my own software company that develops custom software for larger companies. These days I'm mainly involved in management so this project let me do some coding for fun ;)

how annoying am I...

CrimsonWarlock...
I was just wondering where you were at with the coding of this nifty little studio app? I don't mean to press my luck, but from how you described the app up to now, it seemed to be a very impressive and useful tool in the studio. Any ballpark ideas of how much more work the app needs or when you'll have time to fiddle with it?

Keep in mind we all understand that your doing it on the side just for fun.....
....you take credit cards? hehe :D

take care

please forgive me for this....
it's only because i'm impatient...
ahem....
bump.
