Question: how come folks are warned in advance about something being offensive, then go there anyway, and then get offended?

Big Kenny, I know you have a religious background. Time and again, the religious folks always go where they are warned in advance, them come back and publicly bitch.

If you don't like something, don't do it. Exercise your freedom to choose what you want to view. I exercise that freedom by staying out of churches, but I'm sure not bitching about them.
 
Hmmm. Me (a Christian) and my Christian housemate laughed a lot at this thread ... it was a good joke, but like most things HR and Mic Forum ... it's now gone sour :(

I thought it was funny and I'd count myself a Christian. But then, it's always the same old people causing trouble isn't it?

Now that was a bit over the line. . .

I didn't appreciate the post either, but he DID put a disclaimer on it. . .and I'm quite hetero. I just think pornography is wrong, and I don't want to see it. This doesn't mean I (or any men who think this) don't like girls.

Don't leave....I like having you here, but you must understand that Religious beliefs are pretty powerful. They can provoke war, murder, censorship, and invasion of privacy. Yet, it is your right to have an opinion, as it is the right of others who see it differently as well.

Its like the movies, TV, or radio. If you do not like what is out there, change the channel. There is no way something like this will not be put up to get a laugh from those who do think it is funny. I understand there are those who do not think it is funny, but to those of you who don't, this is America, a free Country. As such, you should ignore it as you do sex on TV at home, or just voice your opinion. Leaving HR over this, is a bit silly.

If I can hang here with the likes of DJL all over my ass all day long, you guys can surely change the channel here. What do you do at home? We all know you have TV's and go to the movies. There is much worse on TV than what is here.

So, don't think you are not wanted here. We can all understand you're not wanting to be involved on "this" thread. Hopefully, you can understand others wanting to be involved in it... Its called Tollerance.... Perhaps I should take my own advice... ;)

Well put. However, many religions are based upon evangelism or similar tenets, which boil down to "We are right and you are wrong, so you need to believe what we do and live your lives according to those beliefs." Couple this with our Puritan heritage here in the US and the complete infiltration of religion into our government, and you've got folks telling others that sex and nakedness are bad, and a whole body of laws to enforce it.

There's a plethora of swearing and sexual jokes and comments that go on here, posted without any warning that they are there. No one gets so offended by these that they threaten to leave the board. What is it about a picture of genitalia and sexual activity, with a pre-warning attached that it may be offensive, that just sends some folks into orbit?

Noisedude and Neil Ogilvie - be glad your ancestors decided to stay put - you can still be Christians without all these sexual hangups. :)

Any Muslims, Buddhists, Zoroastrians or others that would like to weigh in here?

I think that homophobia, xenophobia, war, guns and racism are far worse than seeing a naked person. I wonder how many of the anti-porn christians are pro-war, have guns, hate homosexuals and are scared of the middle east.
 
I sure hope this thread doesn't get HomeRecording.com shut down becasue some child's parent gets mad about it.

Sorry protein, I see that you're a Limey too - didn't mean to leave you out. You can be glad your ancestors stayed there too. :)

It does seem a lot of the attributes you mention above go together.
