I've used the C1 on two male vocalists yesterday, next to the Neumann M149.

I'm sorry, but this was not good. The B1 sounds better to my ears, more neutral.

The C1 may sound good on acoustic guitar I suppose, but on those voices it sounds way too bright.

There's a difference between a 'silky' high end and a brittle high end. The Neumann sounds very clear, but has that silky thing, plus an incredably nice mid. But I know, it costs 14 times as much as the C1.

The C1 sounds a tad shrill, I miss the warmth that many condensers have.

Just my 0.02 euro :D

Yep. No matter how much people like to delude themselves with the "cheap mic" Vs, Neumann, there is no comparison at all. The Neumann costs much more because it is a far better mic and much more versitile. All the high $$ mics are better than any of the low $$ mics of today. This will never change. The cheaper mics are useable if you have no money, but to constantly comparing these low $$ mics to Neumanns is a waste of time and you are REALLY deluded and brainwashed if you believe they sound the same.

Jagermeister cheap shot = yum!!! :)

DJL cheap shot = typical (yuck)!!! :(

Jagermeister a cheap shot = never!

Jagermaster a cheap shot = crap!

acorec re neumanns

acorec i just dont agree. i used neumanns for quite a long time.
many years in fact.
yes they ARE good mics. but i dont agree with the blanket statement. there are many lower cost mics that will record a good vocal or other instrument. ive recorded with cheaper beyer, sennheiser, and ev mics to good effect. often if one is not getting
a good take out of a lower cost mic its sometimes because of impedence mismatches between the mic and the mic preamp.
for example an old sm57 can sound vastly different through a good mic preamp compared to another mass produced cheaper one.

If you're such an elitist then why aren't you using a proper shock mount anyway.
Studio Projects doesn't make/sell a proper B1 shock mount... and I sold my B1's anyways.

I thought you said you disliked the owner of PMI audio (we all know his name) so much that you sold all your Studio Projects mics? Hey - if you want a replacement cap, PM me and I'll send one of mine to you, free. I've got four of them (unbroken).
I don't like cheap crap or Alan... and I sold my B1's, but thanks for the kind offer anyway.

Care to correct that DJ?

I have a pair of shockmounts that came with my B1's and while they might not be the Rolls Royce of mounts, they work just fine.

I just have my wife hold the mic, makes her feel like she's part of the recording process.:D

Thank You. At least now you admit that there are shockmounts for the B series mics............even if you personally don't like them.

Oh, I admit that... but I don't think Studio Projects makes or sells a "proper" or "good" B1/B3 shock mount.
