Justin, Jarrod or Alan... ok, I 'm jealous... lol. I'd sure love to know what mic's you guys have in your mic locker?
:)

Oh, and I have a feeling you'll NEVER get Justin off the DMX-R100... well, unless maybe you have some killier ice cream. :)

Being Sony Pro Audio distributors has its benefits, I know the old man is looking forward to taking his B3 out of the studio at his house and putting it in here, something I'm not particularly looking forward to.
DJL, actually once I really get into something almost nothing can get me away from it, I get so involved in that one thing on occasion I actually have to remember to breathe.

Possibly slightly brighter than the old units and the MC012 - although I've never AB'ed them.

We have a matched set of four 603's and a matched set of two 603's, but as to which are the old ones, that's a blur. I sent them to Brent when he was still at MXL, and he matched up four for me (all the same), and then two more later (but just to each other). I haven't heard much difference between any of the seven 603's we own, but I haven't tested them against anything else since we got them from Brent.

Depending on the sound we're looking for, we'll use the 603's, the MC012's, the Behringer ECM8000, the T.H.E. Kp-33's, the Shure SM-81's, or the Audix TR-40's on acoustic guitars. Usually, it's the 603s or the Oktavas for overheads.

Sometimes, we'll use the T.H.E. small cardioid for acoustic guitar as well.

So Harvey, just out of curiousity, if you HAD to pick just one pair of your above mics, which one would you keep, and why?

I love it... lol. I can totally relate. But hey, that's the only way to really nail it. :D

Thank goodness I don't hafta make that choice, since they're all of value here for something. But I'd probably go with the Sound Room Oktavas (with all three capsules) for the most versatility.

If I was limited to buying the mics from Guitar Center, I'd go for a matched pair of 603's.

My first thought to the question was... what a bummer nightmare... lol.

Well, I'll let you know what I think soon. My new C-4's shipped today for a Friday delivery. We're tracking vocal overdubs this weekend, so I won't know much until about the 23rd, when we go back to tracking percussion.-Richie

naaa naaa na naaa naaaaaaaa

and can't wait to take'm for a spin

Cool I cant wait to read your opinion on the Mic.

I was waiting for someone on this board to get a pair, test them out and post their opinion.

Me too... I'll second that. :)

Hey t-chance, we can't wait for you to take them for a spin either!

Be patient folks, I want to A-B-C them with the KM184’s and MXL603’s. Then the ECM8000's with the omni capsules. I'm no expert, but I'll throw in my two cents. I have to admit I'm a rookie at this and I haven't done this before. So it's going to be pretty much by the seat of my pants and I'll be going by my ears. I wish I had a set of mc012's to toss into the mix.
I'm thinking Audio Buddy, Soundcraft Live, Mackie VLZ, and the
Mindprint Envoice. That sound like a good home wrecker test?

If you're visiting the Production Show at Olympia in London between 20th and 22nd May you can try the SP C4 mic out on our booth, number 492, along with the full range of Studio Projects mics, and Toft Audio outboard gear.

Oh and you can have the chance to win a Studio Projects C1 microphone in our prize draw.

What we offer here in the UK is an option to "buy and try" the Studio Projects range of mics. If you buy a mic from us, and then you're not happy with it, simply return it to us in the original packaging within 14 days and we'll give you a full refund, and we have the full range of SP product in stock........

We've always offered that on the SP mics, and we've never had one back.....

Best wishes

No pressure t_chance, just millions of dollars and the hopes and dreams of thousands turn on your post!

Actually, I'm pretty much a newbie. That's why the honest opinions of people in this forum are so valuable. As long as biases, sources and signal chains are understood, all 'opinions' are valuable.
