I was wondering if the Studio Projects C1 is one of those mics, If not can someone please let me know of some mics under $500 that do. Also i need a cheap but good mic preamp to go with the C1 can anyone recommend one? i asked before, BUT like the mic, is there a mic preamp that will also make ur voice explode.

Ok, I have the Sound Blaster Platinum, It seemed good at the time, I have a $30 mic and i would record, but it would still sound like my voice was recorded at home, And people would say get this and that to bring the Beat out, The beat sounds clean, It's just my voice, To tell u the truth my voice sounds a bit likes Fabolous, im not gonna say just like it, becuz i hate that guy, but yea like his voice, People r telling me to go to the studio and just lay my tracks down. But i'd rather get my own equipment and make music. Thats why i need everyones help to tell me whats suits me. I don't really need to do it on my computer, i'm willing to spend $4,000 on whatever i need. I don't know how to use any of the equipment, but i'm a quick learning. Just please recommend anything i would need to have my vocals really come out.

Thanks

OK, i'm looking to buy a good mic preamp, but when i look at them and read what they say some sound different. I need to know what are some MIC PREAMPS that have ALL FEATURES on them. Or at least alot of features. Also can someone explain to me what they do and everything. I have about $1000 to spend on one, so please could someone tell me what would be a really good one to get to use, so my vocals will come out CLEAN and GREAT. I don't need a lecture saying i need a mic too, Cuz i got a good one, so can someone just fill me in on great mic preamps and describe what they do and what what means.

Thanks

Hey hot

These are your first posts from May 2003. You've sure learned a lot since then. :D

Preamp = try the Studio Projects VTB-1

Mic = try the Studio Projects C1, or B1 or MXL V67 or V69 or Shure KSM series mics.

These recommendations are for BUDGET purchases that will get you by. If you want higher end ... that's a different question and there are different gear to accomplish this.

The C1 is a fine mic. Get the C1MFS model. The "MFS" means "Multi-function switch" This switch has the standard four position options. Position 1 is Rap/Hip-Hop, 2 is Rock, 3 is Heavy Metal and 4 is Pop. This version is the best one and can be had for $79.99+tax. When you first started, you were not as professional as you are now. Now, you need the C1MFS more than ever.

Yeah, I got me one of those a few months ago. Since I don't do rap or hip-hop, I sent it to Stephen Paul and he modded it to replace the rap function with a folk/country one. Sounds a whole lot sweeter now - none of that strident egotistical whining it used to have.

May I suggest a Neumann U87. Nothing less is worth your time superstar.

Or there is another model (the name eludes me) which has little mice inside who are jacked up on gingko biloba who adjust everything, synthesize your voice, tweak it so, and make your voice sound stunning. Its pretty cool. Instead of buying compressors, EQs, effects processors; and instead of wasting time learning how to do things, this mic does everything for you.

That said, you do have the advantage that all mics are engineered against your vocal characteristics so we all know exactly what makes you sound better or not.

Would that be the BLUE Mouse?

I prefer the Richard Gere Signature Series mic.

The one with the gerbil stuck inside.

LOL. :D Now that sounds like the Mike for our Hottsauce !

It's only missing one feature . . . it has to pick itself out and check itself out, too, because our pal hottsauce seems to have some troubles closing the deal.

Chess - go easy - this is a cool $200 that he is waving around. No serious professional would ever spend $200 on a whimsical fancy - it takes a couple years to plan properly and close the deal when you are talking that kind of loot. (I am eyeing a bag of guitar picks and that will take me 6 months minimum to decide. I am trying to weigh whether the red ones will juice up my guitar skills & sound making me sound like Hendrix, or if I should go with the green ones.)
Plus - the right mic will supercharge his voice and propel him to stardom. If the $200 is spent wisely - he becomes a millionaire. If spent foolishly (aka without at least 1 year of planning) he could become the biggest bust since Waterworld.

LOL. :D I forgot about that one. I also forgot about all the likely endorsement deals he'll receive from whichever mic brand he ultimately decides on. Imagine the pressure . . .

Im Hearin

im hearin that if i get a Expensive mic, i also have to get an expensive mic preamp. If this is true i just can't afford it. I was looking at the Shure KSM 44, also the Neumann TLM103, If i could get a mic like one of these and end up gettin a half ass preamp and still sound Explosive then that would be great, but i heard that if the preamps sorry then the mic's terrible. is it true?

Dawg, I'ma level wit ya. Sprinkle some ex-lax on the grill of a brand new Rode Nt1, and that shit'll be EXPLOSIVE like a muthafucka, muthafucka!

Good pre-amps are for pansies. Everyone knows that the $$$ should be spent on a good mic cable. Buy a Behringer mic, a BlueTube and a $200 mic cable. This is the HOT setup. ALL mics are the same and ALL pre-amps are the same. The ONLY thing that makes a pro recording is the friggin cable. Trust me, I am your friend and good buddy. Spend the loot on the best cable out there.

i was reading through his post

Hotsauce is like Zeke's ghetto twin. Too bad hotsauce probably can't blame his stupidity on being a 14 year old.
