Hi all!

Will the SP B1 work with the M-Audio Audio Buddy? I've searched on here and haven't found a conclusive answer. I'm just starting out doing some home recording for fun and don't want to spend too much, but want a good bang for the buck. I've gotten the Audio Buddy, and know it has phantom power, but haven't found a good answer to whether it'll be enough for the SP B1.

If not, the next best choice would be a Shure Sm57? It's mostly for vocal work and maybe the odd instrument or two.

Thanks for your replies. :)

Yes it will work fine - I have both and they work well together. Though the Audiobuddy is shy on phantom voltage (about 35 volts) it seems adequate for the mic.

I think the SM58 (which is a 57 with a ball screen) sounds terrible with the Audiobuddy. This has nothing to do with phantom power, as dynamics don't need it, but rather is probably due to an impedance related issue. To me it sounds lifeless through the Audiobuddy, as opposed to through my Joemeek MQ3, which is the only other preamp I have.

I've used my SP LSD-2 with my audio buddy and it worked out OK. Not the best sounding or even flexible pre of course but packed up nice for a mobil project.
I didn't hate it.
