those are pretty decent if thats ALL the money you have to spend and you absolutely can't spend anything more. for $150 i don't think you're gonna get anything much better than those.

I'd disagree... in a quick google search, I found 4 reveiws stating these monitors are awful, have no bass, and completely stopped working within months of purchase.

I'd stay away from them...

If that's all the money you have, I suggest waiting for another month or so, and saving a couple hundred more... or checking eBay for something used but better.

Here's some passive Alesis One Monitors for $41, and the auction ends in 4 hours... http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Alesis-Studio...7QQihZ012QQcategoryZ47093QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Here's a set of Behringer Truth's still at $0.99 and it ends in 4 days...

Here's another set of Truth's with the 6.5" woofer, so it's a bit smaller.

Here's some KRK Rokit's

I'd keep on eye on these here, Alesis M1 Active 620's.

See, do some searching and you can find monitors that are 10 times better, in your price range.

Those are almost just like the m-audio studiopro monitors... I had some of those long ago, and they sucked from what I remember... I do however recommend something like this for that particular price range of $149.99 give or take $20.

BTW at that low of a price it'll be hard to get some pretty decent sounding monitors, however it'll still make a difference if your setup was like computer speakers or something.

Some people like Truth series from Behringer...

If you could chip in another $100 dollars, you can get the RP-8's which sound pretty decent for the price. Those speakers are bigger obviously (8'') I just don't want you to go up in there and buy a set of speakers, and be disappointed because they didn't blow your mind. Your ears will probably have to get used to listening to a more true mix vs computer speakers.

yeah but what's he gonna do with just one monitor? mix everything in mono? of course the DX4 don't sound good, they're cheap! but IMO they work better than whatever other junk powered monitors are in that price range. the bass is bad, well of course they are only 4" speakers. they are a decent value at $150 though. of course ideally you're gonna want to spend about 10 times that much on monitors. :p

good feedback from everyone... but i don't think just picking monitors by price range on-line will do you any good. my suggestion would be to take a couple of your favorite cd's (well mastered cd's) to your local music store (guitar center or whatever) and listen for yourself... stay in one particular price range when you are listening to the monitors and make your decision from there. my 2 cents

WHAT UP ERRBODY !!! :D

I got the Wharfedales 8.2as, they sound pretty good, although they lack alittle bass. I got these based on the positives reviews from this forum. If you search Wharfedales in the search box, theres a thread with over 1000replies. Most say they match the 8" Mackies.

The Truths got alot mixed reviews. Some review sites praise them being the best $300 you can spend and others despise Behringers quality. I was going to get those but the Wharfe's held much better ground here in HR.com

Based on doing research with the M-Audio BXa 8's, I gathered that most people said is that they over-exaggerate the bass line alittle.

KRK's and Mackies are the way to go if you serious about your music and what that "thump" that isnt artificially enhanced. But if the budget is alittle tight id probadly get the Wharfedales.

Venom, I heard the DX4's they sounded real nice when I auditioned them at Sam Ash. The only thing you wont get is the bass. So if you get these, your going to have to definitely get a sub woofer down the line which may be another 150. So you might as well shop for some 8" monitors for around $350.
