I recently bought the following items:
1. Marshall MXL 990/991 condenser mic kit
2. M-AUDIO "AUDIO BUDDY " MIC/INSTRUMENT PREAMP
3. Fostex MR-8 HD 8 track

I know I'm going to need mic stands, breath guards, monitors, and some headphones: could you point me towards some good deals on this stuff?

Also, is there anything else I am missing?

Seriously tho, what are you gonna be recording? What's your room like? Is it treated or no? Using live drums?

I've heard good reviews on the Sennheiser HD280 cans, although I don't have em. The Extreme Isolation cans are great for drummers for the iso but I wouldn't do any critical mixing on em.
As far as monitors, what can you afford? There's a bunch of threads here on different monitors with pros n cons.
One of the biggees is the room tho. Makes a big difference in the tracking and mixing stages.

Needs mo' input pleez.

Oh...and you need a lava lamp... :D

No drums at all. (Well, for the near future).

For now the set up is going to be in my dorm room.

Do I need shockmounts for my mics?
