Does anyone know of any good computer software I can use in drawing up blueprints for my studio? It doesn't need to be very technical, I just need to visually plan this stuff out before I commit!
I used to make my own levels for Quake (ya know the 3D shooter game). So when it came time to start planning my studio I naturally made my studio as a level of Quake. It's GREAT because you can actually do the lighting the way you will actually do it in real life. If you know you want a light right... here... you'd put a light entity right there, tell it how bright to be, and when you're in the game it looks like the light is actually coming from a source, very realistically. I don't know if any of the home 3d programs have THAT
But of course it took me months to be able to figure out how to make the damn levels... the best part about it though, I put some monsters and some amo in there, and I had a shoot-out in my studio!!!
yay!

It looks great/professional when printed on a color inkjet. It impressed every contract that I sought a bid from, including the city inspector.
Cheap. Now if I can only place a few monsters and have me a shoot out.........
Ok, just call me a moron... c'mon!

Back when DOOM was the rage, I remember I tried an editor...made me feel stupid...couldn't get it right. Gave up and just used other peoples mods.
That's what I started on. Then when Quake came out I HAD to make my own levels for it.
