This is my 16yo student of the last 4 years. He came to me without being able to play a note on guitar and has come a long way.

In this recording, which was done in his living room, he is playing Lead, Rhythm and Bass. The drums and Wurlitzer are synthed.

For the guitars, I used an AKG D7 and an AKG P170 on a Marshall MG250DFX
For the bass, I used an AKG D11 on a Hartke HA5000

He came up with the chord progression, Am7, Dm7, Em7 then surprised me with an FMaj9, E7#9 turnaround. I shouldn't be surprised, I have been teaching him a lot of jazz guitar chords and he seems to be soaking up chord theory and scale modes like a sponge. It was just a pleasant surprise that he picked these for the turnaround.

This solo was unrehearsed, just a one-take effort but I thought he handled everything pretty well

16?! Jamin! Get this kid some band mates in a hurry! You, sir, have taught him well! :thumbs up:

Thank you but he is a good student. I wish they were all that good. He has a band (made up of my other students) but this was done on a lesson night while I was showing him recording techniques. Might get them all to do this one but the rhythm guitarist is not quite as adept at chords as this guy is. I'm working on that :)

Thanks for listening
