This is my 16yo student of the last 4 years. He came to me without being able to play a note on guitar and has come a long way.
In this recording, which was done in his living room, he is playing Lead, Rhythm and Bass. The drums and Wurlitzer are synthed.
For the guitars, I used an AKG D7 and an AKG P170 on a Marshall MG250DFX
For the bass, I used an AKG D11 on a Hartke HA5000
He came up with the chord progression, Am7, Dm7, Em7 then surprised me with an FMaj9, E7#9 turnaround. I shouldn't be surprised, I have been teaching him a lot of jazz guitar chords and he seems to be soaking up chord theory and scale modes like a sponge. It was just a pleasant surprise that he picked these for the turnaround.
This solo was unrehearsed, just a one-take effort but I thought he handled everything pretty well
