I have a P-Base that I am thinking of stringing left handed.
I am left handed but and am learing to play right handed. I dont think I have been progressing on my playing so I think I am going to give left handed a try.

I plane on replacing the nut but will the split pick up be a problem?

It might sound cool like Jimi's backwards pups.

There shouldn't be any problem with the pups. Just don't forget to reverse the saddles and set (or have set) the intonation. The pickup configuration might make a very slight difference in tone but it should not be enough to be the least bit concerned about. You will probably need to adjust the pickup height a little to balance volume across the strings. You might even like it better.

I am in the process of replacing the bridge and pickups. So I know it will have to be setup when finished.

My main concerns is with the split pickups.
