I agree with Muttley that your nut slots must be cut right for your strings, but when that's not enough (like with my vintage Strat with a floating trem), I use a dab of a mixture of graphite powder and Teflon grease.

Nut files.;)

Yup, though GHS has some white graphite stuff that is actually pretty nice for guys who bend a lot, or do a lot of trem stuff. Myself, I've never found the need, but I slide more than I bend so...I've got customers for whom it is very effective.

I may catch hell for this (appology to Light and Muttley in advance) but I use white lithium. I put the smallest amount possible in the slots useing an insulin syringe to apply. It only takes a tiny amount and seems to last indeffinately.

Talcum powder!!!

<ducks>

Talcum powder only works if you spray the nut with WD 40 first!!!

<ducks lower than ggunn> ;) I'm bound to catch hell for this

Just in case someone doesn't get it, Dani and ggunn are JOKING!

OMG!!! I hope everyone knows that I was joking about the WD 40 and talcum. I wouldn't seriously suggest that to anyone (unless I was seriously pissed off at them.) ;)

I keep a tube of graphite powder handy.

Plus a 1 gallon can of WD-40 and an economy-sized jar of Gold Bond. :D
