Did consumer open reel albums go sticky? I always thought they weren't using backcoated tape for those. I certainly haven't had trouble with the ones I have (admittedly a small collection). I have CSN and Live Cream from the same era, they're both polyester, FWIW, manufactured by Ampex. I'd assume 642 for those two.

I see Ampex of Opelika, AL., and I'm suspicious.

I don't have $400 lying around to find out.

If it's well running, sticky-free tape, then it's a real gem.

It's probably fine. commercial tapes were not generally recorded on backcoated sticky-shed stuff. Most likely 300 or 600 series non-backcoated Ampex or similar, but... that price is about ten times too high. I would pass on that.
