daav, check out the "Instructions" tab on that page.

Even the recommended tools list scares me half to death.

You could a nice sounding acoustic for those prices, that look amazing. My buddy has an Art and Luthier that was like $200 and sounds amazing. So, unless you want the challenge and pride of building your own guitar, and have the skills and tools, I'd def stay away.

These things really have some potential for someone with decent woodworking skills?

Yes,

They make an excellent introduction to guitar building. The tool list required to complete them is quite modest and good luthier tools that you may need to buy hold their value and last a lifetime so are a good investment. The only thing you need to add is patience and care. Don't expect to have the guitar stung up and gigging quickly. As a first instrument plan on the hours to complete it in the hundreds if you are to get it right.

One of these kits put together properly and set up right will blow away any guitar from the $200 price bracket. Hell, $200 would barely cover the cost of the back and sides on a decent instrument or the top and bracing. You cannot compare the two.

I couldn't have said it better myself, so I won't. I'll just say, I concur 100%.

Thank Muttley600 and Light.

Good perspective there, hundreds of hours- something to think about.
