AAAAHHHH PIRATED SOFTWARE PROBLEM !!!

kiddin' ya... :D
Hey maestro Dave, how do you route the signal ? If I assume it's keyboard --> mixer --> sound card. Do you send the signal using main out or the aux send ?

;)
James

Are you playing with both hands?? (just kidding :) )

Can you describe your setup, starting with the outs on the keyboard and going all the way up until you get to the ins on the Darla.

Your Sonar configuration looks to be OK - assuming that the mixer channels that the keyboard is connected to are coming into the Darla on inputs 1 & 2.

In my case I don't find that I need to pan the mixer channels hard left and right as Vice indicated. However, I don't see that it would hurt to try that.

Also, be aware that the left and right tracks won't be "dramatically" different. Usually the lowest keys will be left, and the highest keys right, but the middle keys are generally going to go to both left and right. Depending on how much of the keyboard you are using, there may not be alot of difference in the two tracks. Still, the recorded tracks should sound pretty much like it does when you play it live.

AAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I figured it out. My wires are so crazy it is hard to know what is up.

I have an Alesis Quadraverb. My aux sends are going into that.
I dont even use the darn thing. I will let you know in a few minutes, but I think I got it. Thanx, Fellers!!!!

OK, here is the deal,

I have my aux send going to the sound card, I have my main outs going to my receiver. Is this right?

I know that I can hear my synths in stereo in this way. If I hear it this way, shouldnt my computer?

That attachment is one of those funky patches that moves around constantly in the stereo field.

Also, keep in mind that imports play perfectly in stereo.

The Alesis quadraverb had nothing to do with it, but I unhooked anyways.

So now what, guys?

Keyboard to mixer, panned hard left and right, to soundcard.

Coming back, sound card to mixer faders 5-6, panned hard left and right.

How come you guys don't live in Cleveland? We have lovely weather on Lake Erie:mad:

Anyone have more suggestions on my original problem? I have tried everything that has been posted and NO luck... The problem is that even when I pan the tracks, I can not hear the changes in sonar. I have to export them to hear it in stereo which is a HUGE pain.

Have you updated the drivers for the Live? And are you certain ther ain't no problems with it (check Device Manager)?

...You Douhgy, have you tried using MME driver instead of WDM ? What's the result ?

I can listen to my tracks in Stereo when I export them and run them as WAV files in another program, so I don't think it is a problem with my drivers.

...Well, it could. Have you realised that if you select WDM driver, then you won't have any control to your Windows mixer ? Turn the "Wave" slider up and down won't affect SONAR... so does the pan. If you use MME, then you have the control. Just a guess, may be it helps...

;)

If that's the case, then I would re-install the Live!-card just to see if it gets better (or I would re-install it anyway). Sonar should be able to control the pan with a Live!-card and it's WDM-drivers.

Nice work James! Inside cakewalk there is a checkbox to use MME drivers even when WDM are available. That did the trick. Thanks!
