Stephen Pauls's passing.............

I started to post on this thread right after Middleman posted that link, but everything I started to write sounded trite, so I backed out. I didn't know the man--only of him, his genius, and his illness--and I can only imagine how brave and full of life he was. It is a humbling thought.

God bless Stephen, his family, and his friends.

We've lost a great one.

My prayers are with Stephen's family and those who knew him well.

Hopefully Stephen has taken his place in the cosmos, to be a divine inspiration to others who shared his vision and his ability to look beyond that which is obvious.

Rest in peace.

I wonder how much of the money made from the Stephen Paul Microphone will be donated to the Arthritis Foundation .

Further information will be made public when the Foundation is created, as with all Foundations, it becomes public information, and all sources of its income and expenditures must be filed for public view. Setting up a foundation doesn’t happen overnight.

Currently we are concentrating on grieving for Stephen. In either case, I feel the intent of your comments is simply not appropriate.

Alan, please keep us informed about where we can send donations, memorials, or condolences.

Hopefully (for us, and for him) Stephen is in a place where he's able to do the things he loves again, without pain.

I don't see anything wrong with my question... in fact, giving money to the Arthritis Foundation from the profit from the Stephen Paul mics seems like the right thing to do, after all... you once said "it's not about money" and what a very noble way to help fund the Arthritis Foundation in the name of Stephen Paul... and you can write it off your taxes.

I had only just began to learn of his work, accomplishments and unfortunate business dealings.

So everyone knows, Stephen had a very rare kind of Reiter's disease. One that is not curable. There are many other things that occur to the body when you have this disease, but in fact, it may not be what "actually" ended Stephen's life.

I will be sure to advise everyone exactly what happened when the autopsy is complete and the findings are released.
 
I won't comment on some of the things said in this and other threads, but I would like to pass on one thing as one of the many people that considered themselves friends of Stephen Paul's:

Alan,

We owe you a huge debt of gratitude that can never be repaid, for all that you did for Stephen over the last year and a half.

Most of what you did for Stephen will never be made public, as per your wishes, but please be assured that all of Stephen's friends will never forget you for the love and support (and so much more) that you gave Stephen in his final years.

You gave Stephen hope, support, and helped him see his dream come to life. As Stephen's long-time friend, I'll be in your debt forever for that.

It actually has been two years. It was actually in August of 2001 that Stephen and I started our talks. I will never forget how his eyes lit up when he talked, and talked, and talked.

He and I came far, and became good friends. We spent hours talking about mics, and his emotional state as a result of his illness, but I could always sense a part of him was so excited to be able to finally do what he wanted to do, without selling out.

If that was all I was able to do for him, then I was fulfilled. Yes, there is so much more that you, Tony, Brent, and maybe one or two others that know what else I did, but I do wish to leave that private. I don't want people to think I am not a hard ass, and just a pushover you know!!!!

In either case, it was good you put us together, from there, great things will have come out of it...all in time.

All I can say Harvey, is that I appreciate your gratitude of what I did, and all I can say is, it was all my pleasure.

My condolences on the passing of your friend. I always thought it was pretty cool doing the BBS-chat thing with guys of your stature and Stephen as well. Though we only "spoke" a few times back at RO before the paid-site adventure it was obvious he was a special individual. I hope you guys will stick around here a bit (Hint - the ignore button is a pretty useful feature.)

I'll probably never buy a Stephen Paul mic - it would be wasted on me - but I have a C1 and a few More Me cans! :D

One thing about Stephen that he hinted at but never came clean with was the fact that his parents were famous show business types. Something about wanting to make it on his own...:cool:

So spill the beans. Their son did some amazing things. He made it on his own. I should think they would be proud.

Stephen did start telling his story in his forum at RO, but circumstances there prevented the whole SP story coming out.

I guess that it is still locked away in the RO archives.
