does anyone know any links to find more info on it? anyone used it themselfs who cud give me the lowdown onto what it can do? thanks

Steinberg Houston is a program for a control surface, something like the Mackie emulation. It can do alot just depends what kind of controler you have.

hope that sheads some light.

Steinberg's Houston is not actually a program, but it is an actual Controller. It came out just before the Mackie control series did. It is really designed to go with Steinberg applications (Cubase/Nuendo), but I believe it can work with others as well. A while ago when I was first considering buying a control surface I looked long and hard at the Houston. It was a great idea, but it seemed like users out there found the Mackie easier to setup and use, and easier to remap than the Houston. Basically more friendly and reliable, not to mention more affordable. This was even true with using the Mackie with Steinberg apps. Sounds a little wierd, but that was the general consensus.

i see. i need to learn more about control surfaces really. they look like a really neat thing to have, must make automation n all that much more easy than using a god dam mouse!!! although without the mouse id be lost personally, it wud be nice to have the hands on feel. do you know any threads where i can learn more about the basic functions of a control surface?i take it things like the steinberg houston n the mackie desks all have banks...im not sure if thats the right word...or rather than just have 8 channels, u press a button n it flicks to 9-16...press another skips to 17-24 etc? thanks again guys

You are correct. I just purchased a Mackie Control last week and I love it.
The software Im using is Cubase SL3 and it controls mostly everything in the app. Sweet :D

Tell me please does the Mackie Controler have inputs or does it use a sound care. Also does it connect to the computer by USB or Firewire?

I am using a Tascam 428 and wish to go for something different Mackie is a well know quality name.........but don't know much about it as a controler-interface.
