I am useing n-track studio to try to record a demo

I am not looking for super high quality but it must be half way good, this soft ware is ultra complicated, first thing is first, anyone know why I am getting static when I record and what I might do to eliminate it?

If not, does anyone know of any cheap software that is very easy to use and gets ok quality?

thanks

Can you give more info on your set up, like computer specs, interface and so on?

N-Track does not cause static.

You've got something else going on that's causing it. Could be anything from a cheap soundcard (built-ins and SBLives are notorious for causing staticy sounds) to a bad cable or connector or anything else.

As Carter says, a little more info would help.... but you have to start learning how to diagnose your sound chain one step at a time.

Yep, TimO. has it right.

Also, I have a gut feeling the the word "static" here might possibly be being used as a generic term like "noise". Static is a specific type of noise with specific causes like Tim mentioned, among others.

However, I also have the feeling that we couldn't rule out possible causes of assorted popping, clicking and general harshness, often mistakenly lumped under the term "static", which could have any number of causes.

So the online doctors here need some more specific information from you, dino. "Doc, I have static" just isn't enough :).

What does the static sound like?

When does it occur, is it fairly constant, or only during certian loud or soft parts, or only for some instruments?

Does the noise have a regualr pattern of any type or is it random?

Does it appear only on your speakers during recording or does it appear when you play back the recording only, or both?

And yes, a complete equipment list of your whole signal chain, hardware and software, from microphone or line in to speakers, and everything in-between would indeed help greatly.

and really, n-track is about as simple as any other software for audio recording out there...so may I suggest just going to cheap demo studio? ha.

Its not N-Track that is your prob.

Check your cords #1
than check your connections #2
