Is this a normal noise for all mr-8s. It is very annoying.

NO......unless you have the gain all the way up on your preamp or something. Another thing to try if thats not the case, turn the unit off and then back on. The MR8 has a reputation for the headphone circuitry being a little noisy at times....seems just turning it off and on fixes the prob. I'm familiar with that frying bacon sound, but it aint the mr8.
