Hello, because of some coincidences I have access to a Behringer Xenyx 1222 and its usb UCA200 and SM57,SM58 and B-2Pro mics and would like to know how to get going with some home recording...I am sorry that this post is so general but I am currently lost and would like to start off.
Can anyone help me out with software or anything??

Thank you very much.

Just check one of hte other (many) threads askign basically the same question!

Do a search for software as stated above...I know one brand was Reaper that cost like 50 bucks but apparently you can run it without paying...I too am just starting out and am running Audacity...which seems pretty good and it was free...good luck!

If you have a mac, use Garage Band. If you have a PC, definitely check out reaper:

If you're only going to record sounds (and not also use MIDI), then audacity is also good -- last I checked it didn't handle midi. In my opinion (having not really used either program for much) audacity has fewer features, but it easier to understand, and vice versa -- reaper does a great job of being intuitive, too, but more features bring more complexity - no getting around it.

Then just plug that stuff in, and go nuts :) -- you may or may not develop some specific questions along the way, and if/when you do, you can likely find the answers somewhere on the board, or ask them.

i came to the newbies section becouse i dont know how to post threads, can someone message me to let me know

I would start with throwing anything away that says Behringer on it. Your recordings will sound like crap, and it won't be your fault, so you'll get discoureged more easily.
