Starting an Indie Label

Hi all,
My partner and i are looking into starting and indie label. We are currently in the process of recording our band's first cd. We are members of a 9 piece band (I the female singer & he is our sound technician & DJ). We already have a basic setup in our garage equipment eg., roland vs1824cd, computer, musical equipment etc...(we also use the band equipment if needed). I'd like to know where to go from here? Has anyone been thru this experience? Please share.

Creating a label is trivial. All you need to do is register the trademark, basically. What is not trivial is:

1. Running a company. Any kind of company, and that goes for a record company too.
2. Distributing the CD's.

None of which a label will help you with, because a label is just that: A label. It's just a name you print on the CD.
