Emeric,
You guys with the good ears amaze me! It was transfered from cassette. I didn't notice it on the actual track side, but I did later, on the demo side. It makes the demo vocal sound BAD. I don't know if it is a bad cassette, or the old tape deck I used. My good tape deck died and I didn't know if I would replace it or not. Not much use for one these days. Looks like I may have to though. I tried a noise gate to get rid of the tape noise. The track level is so low at the end, I couldn't get it to work very well. Ideas?
Just how good is the vocal, talent wise? I recorded her on 3 others, and now realize just how important the recording setup is to singing. On one I must of had the track to low in her headphones. That track starts out VERY soft, and in trying to match her voice to the track level, her suport wasn't very good. I am not sure what to do about that, as the track builds a lot toward the end. I wish I would have rode the slider while she was singing, or changed the track some. She is very experienced in live singing but not in a recording studio. I also lack the tracking experience to know what to do in cases like this. I don't want to compromise the songs dynamics, but I think the dynamics of this track are to extreme.
By the way, I took your advise on the dual boot. It works GREAT!
Thanks again,
Larrye
