squashed sound....HELP!!!!

when I am finished recording, let's say a few guitar tracks,bass, drums, and vocals the music sounds squashed. If I put my ear up to a sreaker and listen to a professionally done CD the vocals and guitar sound to be much higher(not volume,height)on the speaker. Mine sounds like its all sitting on the bottom of the speaker. What is the problem. Oh yeah, I'm not usuing too much compression.

Sounds logical to me.



Maybe if you can post a clip we can come up with some ideas of what you could be doing better.
