squashed compressor sound

listen, go easy on my buddy walty!

the best compressor for squashing is all dependent on how much money you want to spend. i do have an amazing opto for ya tho.. i'll give it to you real cheap just cause i like ya! i sent you a private message dude.
 
Generally, you need a better quality compressor to squash without pumping/breathing, or at least a compressor designed to do that specific task. The first unit that comes to mind is the Aphex Compellor 320A. It will level off a mix to an incredible degree and you literally cannot hear it working, or in the most extreme cases barely hear it working. It's probably one of the very best units for what you are talking about.

why does putting 2 compressors in series give more squashed sound?

It thickness up the sound more too why is that?

So is a Multiband compressor or limiter "squash more" VS than a mono non-frequency compressor?

Do limiters squash more than compressors?
