...
anyone know of any good (of course, as usual, inexpensive) speaker stands for a pair of BX8s??
they measure about 9-10" width by 12" length and weigh about 30lbs each i think.

i'm moving to a new apartment and will be getting a smaller bedroom to put everything in. So i'm opting to go with a smaller desk and will need to put the monitors on something.

Thanks.

I don't have a catalog in front of me - but I got a pair of stand froms Musician's Friend which I think I paid about $40 for the pair (this was a sale price I think they are normally closer to $90 - but they seem to be on sale often).

They go up to about 4' and as low as about 2' - they're solid and work well. I looked at and proced about 4 or 5 pairs and the MF stands seemed the best value.

Yo Guys:

I've been looking at many types of speaker stands. The ones I look at conjure up this question:

How do the speakers stay put? Right now I have my KRKs sitting on my Infinity towers. I bought these 2-3 inch floor stands that are angled so the speaker tilts up--won't go anywhere leaning against the backpart of the stand.

But, as I look at the stands illustrated here, three/four feet above ground, with a very small base, so tell this eager to learn person, how the heck do they stay on the stand? Screws?

Thanks for the enlightenment you will send.

Some people use industrial-strength velcro and some people just set them on the stands in the knowledge that they'll never, ever bump them.

I use the velcro.

Thanks. I knew there would be some reasonable solution.

I built mine..........4" PVC pipe, a couple closet flanges, and a couple pcs of 1x12 lumber. they work fine.

The MF stands you posted the link to are the same stands I referred to. I got them for a tille less than that - but as you said $70 is better than the going rate of $100 plus.

yeah thane, i've done the searches on zzounds and sweetwater. didn't dive too deeply into musiciansfriend though. found these:

any comments? 70 bucks for the pair is much better than $110 a pair minimum like the other ones are running.
I have those for my Wharfedales. They're not bad - certainly worth the price. They do wobble a little bit every now and then. But they're sturdy and the weld points seem solid.

thanks guys. i'll look into 'em

i just moved in to my new apartment this weekend (i hate moving), and realize i even have less space that i was hoping for...so stuff is going to be crammed into every nook and cranny. :o

thanks again
