Hi,
I just wanna know what "ohms" are..
i.e. the speakers i just bought are 6 ohms..what does that mean?
and an amp i have is 65 watts into 8 ohms?!
just like to know...
tHanks

It's a measurement of electrical resistance. 65w in 8 ohms means the amp can push 65 watts if the speakers are 8 ohms, that's all, really.

If the mismatch is to great you can damage the amp, 6 ohms speakers should be no problem.

Also, the lower that your ohms are on your speakers the higher the watts will be that are supplied to you speaker. The same amp will put out about 80 watts with 6 ohm speakers and about 100 with 4 ohm speakers. Thats why the majority of car speakers are 4 ohms (esspecially all the bass crap) so you can get more power out of your amp with out having to have the huge amps like you do with stage equip.
