I have Studio Projects TB1 - A 'tube' microphone. It comes with a power supply for the mic - a little box that takes in a 7 pin connector from the mic and sends out an xlr to my soundcard. The power switch on the box sometimes turns off after a few seconds...I don't think it makes any differnece to the sound. Does anyone know the purpose of this box?

It's the power supply for the mic's internal preamp and tube.

If the switch appears faulty, I'd be contacting either a) the store where it was purchased, b) PMI's UK office or c) Alan Hyatt direct at PMI.

Hey Aus!

I'm pretty sure it's the bulb IN the switch....I mean the mic works fine I'm using it right now. I'm assuming the mic wouldn't work at all if it was something more serious than a faulty LED.

Probably right, sounds like the LED went out. We can replace the switch if you want. Let me know, but you are right, if the supply did not work, neither would the mic...so it has to just be the LED... I have to ask our designer Brent if the LED can be changed, or if it has to be the entire switch...

How cool is this guy? I've said it hundreds of time but, I've yet to seen someone who represents a company as well as Alan does. Not to mention the products are kick ass for the price.

Oh hey man, didn't know you were a regular! Feel a little embarassed now! I think it's the LED, but I don't even think it's gone out...it comes on, then goes out, then come son again....loose connection, nothing more! It's really no big deal. Thanks anyway though!

Well, that means the switch is not making proper contact with the LED...Anytime it goes out, just e-mail me at alan@pmiaudio.com and we will take care of it. Perhaps you got it at Waltons, but no matter...Heck it could be Thomann. Either way, we will take care of it if it fails.

Probably a broken solder connection from the lead to the board.

yes, it was waltons.

Well we can send them a replacement supply on the next shipment and you can just trade it over. What ever you want us to do is fine.

I have to totally agree! I have met both Alan Hyatt and Brent Casey and some of the staff at PMI and they are all wonderful people who care very much about their customers.

And I also agree with the fact that their products are great quality!

and NO, no one is paying me to say any of this! These are my personal opinions on the matter!
