Is anyone else impatient to see the first "In The Field" report on this pair of mics? Or is it just me? If someone's reviewed them already can anybody give me an URL, or post a copy.
Ta!

I'm sure Alan will let everyone know when they hit market. Until then hold your other mics, lol. :)

As I said in another thread, I'd love to see Brent Casey review these.

I’d like to see Brent stick ‘em in the “horn” sockets of a sun-bleached skull of a bull and mount them on the front grill of a 1974 Dodge Ram pickup. Yeee Haaaawww!

I’d like to see Brent stick ‘em in the “horn” socket of a sun-tanned beach bunny and mount that on the hood of a 1974 Dodge Ram pickup. Then let's see who would Yeee Haaaawww the most :D :D :D

FYI; It is a conflict of interest to have the designer review his own product, send them to me and Ill review them.:D

Except he was also involved with the design of the MXL 603. Who better to get an opinion from?

Well, I'd like to see him stick them up his...oh, wait a minute, I don't want to see that....

I'd like to read some interview type reviews with the designers and their products. But, mostly I like when Harvey opens it up and shares his findings. I wish everyone wasn't so touchy, I like learning.

I took a look at the in-the-shop prices for the two capsule C4s and their nearest competitors for the U.K. hobby recordists hard earned £. On the one hand Soundsense are currently advertising the C4s for just over £270, including P&P. On the other hand a pair of NT5s will cost you £300 from Academy Of Sound or £270 from Digital Village (two of the U.K's GC equivalents) and a FMSP of Oktava MK012s with one capsule will cost £280 from DV. Note that none of these prices include delivery should you need it. So really on this side of the pond, thanks to Alan Hyatt's astute business sense, the two capsule C4 is an incredible bargain. I just hope he can persuade the more conservative chains like Academy Of Sound (my local) to stock them.

I wonder if those C4s are really deliverable or if they put 'em into their ads and catalogs in advance, so to speak. Those line 6 guitars have figured in dealer's ads for months and they're still not available.

Apart from that, I'd also like to hear Brent's comments, but I wouldn't call it a review. I mean, by default any engineer will be especially proud on his lates product. We all know that. That said I'm *very* curious how they will compare to the Rode NT5s. But as I said, I'd rather rely on my own ears or Harvey's than on Brent's or Alan's own assessment.

<ahem>
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The opinions of my employer are not necessarily that of my-
AAAAAIIIEEEEE!!!!

I beg your pardon?
Your rump.

Er, your derriere. Posterior. Sit-upon.
Oh, me bum!
WE AT PMI AUDIO APOLOGIZE TO EVERYONE IN THE WORLD FOR THIS POST. IT WAS DISGUSTING AND BAD AND THOROUGHLY DISOBEDIENT AND PLEASE DON'T BOTHER TO PHONE UP BECAUSE WE KNOW IT WAS VERY TASTELESS, BUT THEY DIDN'T REALLY MEAN IT AND THEY DO ALL COME FROM BROKEN HOMES AND HAVE VERY UNHAPPY PERSONAL LIVES.
Thank you.

I don't want to see any of that. I do like seeing everyone getting along and posting stuff that people like myself can learn from. :)

Now to the point:
The C4's were slated to be released by this month, but the capsules underwent a fourth quarter alteration. We will be delivering our first units in the coming weeks. The catalogs, etc. were updated on time - that was the fairly easy part - but the actual production and design part can be a little like predicting the what the weather will be like in four months.
The intention behind the C4's construction is to make an accurate miking system with emphasis on stereo recording.
I am happy with the performance of the C4'a both in cardioid and omni at this point and they beat the pants off a 603 - the transient resonse is like night and day. I'm in a holding pattern now as we are going into production, but the mics will be released soon and I look forward to hearing impressions on them from all of you in the trenches, so to speak.
