We play in a 10x20 storage shed with carpet on the floor and a big rug on the wall behind the drums. The walls are drywall and the ceiling is metal siding and the door is metal too of course. We recorded a little today and left the door open to cut down on echoes but the drums still sounded like crap. I was using 3 mics, 2 sm57's (one on the snare and one overhead) and a radio shack mic in the bass. the bass and snare sounded fine but the overhead was terrible...would carpet or blankets on the walls help?? or something on the ceiling??
