I'm interested in knowing if anyone on here has built a soundproof vocal booth and if it's genuinely inaudible from the outside. If anyone has any experience in the matter, I'd appreciate it if you could list what materials, methods, problems you've encountered. As you can imagine, I don't want the neighbors bothered by a bit of scraeming and loud noise here and there. Thank you.

It's more a fact of the neighbours bothering your recording, than you bothering them, I think. You'd be suprised at what you think they can hear, and they really can't. My booth is in a wine cellar, totally encased in cement. and then stuccoed over, and then sound deadening material applied strategically... Might not be "proper" but what really is the definition of "proper"?.. It's more of what works for you.... If it's an interior room (not a wine cellar) use 3 layers of drywall, with resiliant channel between every layer.. (looks like the cross section of a top hat, or a Z from the end)..... don't forget the ceiling and if possible, do the floor, from the underneath (basement side. or even install a subfloor (or 2) layered on the existing floor...
There are 1000 different ways of soundproofing, and everyone will have there own methods. The above does work, (I know, I've done it!)....Other suggestions will vary so watch this thread, for more info....
