I was watching Late Night with Conan two nights ago and DMB played two songs. Dave used to play that black Gibson Chet Atkins with a thin body and no soundhole, but recently he's been using the normal acoustics. On wednedsay night's show, he played a Taylor grand auditorium cutaway with a black plastic-looking soundhole cover. Does anyone know where to get something like that, how well they work, and how much they cost? Seems like it would eliminate all of the headaches related to feedback. It's not just a piece of plastic, is it?

It's called the feedback buster. They're made of rubber and you can trip them to fit your guitar. $8 at most places. I"ve got 2.
They help, but don't eliminate feedback all together. That's just the nature of having a resonant chamber combined with amplification. But they do help. Acoustically, it cuts out a lot of the low and upper lows/lower mids.

Yep. Combine a resonant guitar with high stage volume and you have something generally unmanageable. Soundhole plugs help out. They also change the sound of the instrument. Oh, well; so does feedback.

I use one on a Taylor 414CE and it helps loads. I think it was 10 bucks or something like that at GC. Called a Feedback Buster, made by Kaman.

I haven't used a "Feedback Eliminator" but I have a humidifier that covers my soundhole and I would assume it does the exact same too. It was 15 bux, made by Kayser. Might help you kill two birds with one stone.
