I've read that using soundfonts on a laptop computer can be a hassle.Does anyone have any experience doing this?

Thanks,

Soundblaster cards are the only things that support SF playback in hardware. If you want to use SoundFonts without having a soundblaster card, you'll need to use some kind of software syntesizer that recognizes the SF file format. Dyad is a DXi SF sample player and there are a few VST samplers that read SF as well.
