soundcraft fx8

i have just bought a soundcraft fx8 mixing desk which doesn't have a power supply with it.it has a three pin plug socket which is wired red green and black.the psu for this is about£60.00. my question is: is it possible to take that plug off and just put a standard iec plug on and plug mains directly into it or is there some wierd power dealy that needs to be on there? really bad design flaw on an otherwise nice desk.

i doubt it will work... the factory one most likely has a wall wart in line (a transformer) so the voltage that gets to the unit while possibly AC is only like25V not 120V make sense??? check around for a schemo if ya wanna verify this... or post a link to the power supply and i'll check alittle deeper for ya...
