Browsing Soundtrack 24-track machines many people tend to dislike them strongly for their lack of reliability. Anyone here has personal experience with this? My friend had a 24-track from Soundcraft that broke down really quickly but he could have been unlucky or used Ampex 456 (he had lots of these around when we shared room). But is it just people who's used to Studers, MCI's and Otaris who hate these things? Or have they made something worth going for if you want a couple of steps up from a Fostex? And are their 16-tracks different?
Cause the only "2 24-tracks I find here being kind of affordable is either Soundcraft or Lyrec, the latter seemed to be loved for it's sound though mixed opinions when it comes to reliability.
