Hi,

Im just getting started into home recording and i read a lot on the internet and from that information i chose my starting configuration to record with, i have chosen allmost all my hardware but there is still one question ik can't really find an answer on:

If i record thrue a digital mixing panel (Multimix 8 USB 2.0 4 channel mixer with a AT2020 XLR mic.) does it still use a big deal from my soundcart, there where some sites that claimed that because it went thrue the USB port the soundquality wouldnt be affected by the kind of soundcard you have but will stay great.

I personnaly have a standart pci slot soundcart on my computer, its not bad but nog a high quality card. So if i'm going te record thrue my USB port will the quality still drop because of my bad soundcart? or will i still get a nice qualtiy sound into my recording software?

ik really hope someone can give me a answer to this because i need to know it before i cant start putting everything together

An external interface or soundcarD like the Multimix you describe >>REPLACES<< your internal soundcarD.

Which is good, because stock soundcards only have about 50cents worth of chips in them. They are made for cheapness of manufacture and light gaming, not quality music recording.

When you hook up a high(er)-end audio interface you then IGNORE the stock soundcard.
You will do all your monitoring through it, too... you cannot use multiple soundcards at the same time.

It's a good thing.

I'm guessing the parent poster was German.

Germans generally have a really hard time understanding the "d" and "t" difference in English.

False Homonyms and all that.
