Sound clips:New Mics!

To me the mics are a toss up. Very similar. Can't make up my mind which is better. Just shows to go you how important the source is. The instrument, the tone in the fingers, and the mic technique. Nice playing!
 
Smooth playing! I liked the mic-2 better. Sounded more Full to me. :cool:

I preferred the mic1 cut. But the stereo is the best.

1 is the 603
2 is the msh-1

i hear more of the room in #2 and higher noise in #2

Yes! this is one of the song from Wayne Brasel guitar instrumental album. The tape was a gift from a friend 16 years ago. I think it was remastered and the album titled as "Guitar For My Father". Great stuff...
 
Mics revealed!

Here’s the summary of the posts:

3 people think
Mic 1 is MXL603
Mic 2 is MSH-1

4 people think
Mic 1 is MSH-1
Mic 2 is MXL603

3 people say Mic1 has a better sound
4 people say Mic2 has a better sound
1 person says they are similar in sound
.
.
.

So now I’ll tell you guys which mic I used:

Mic 1 – MXL603
Mic 2 – MSH-1

Not yet... at the moment 603 still my fave however she don't have a pair and I normally paired it with my other LDC and still get a good result. I bought a matched pair MSH-1 to see how important to have pair. Tomorrow I have tracking session with the other guitarist and I plan to use MSH-1. Let's see how it goes. :)

One question though; was it an omni capsule on the 603 or the standard cardioid? [sounded better that I would think if it's the cardioid]

It's cardioid.

I'm starting to differentiate between 603 and MSH-1 after our tracking last week. Each of this mics has its own character. I had the chance to test MSH-1 in different guitars (2 models of acoustic yahama and maton)
 
Yeah, I thought mic 1 was the mxl. I have a pair of those, but I have no experience with the msh mics.
