Which one will be better in terms recording quality and playback quality?
Audiophile 2496 or a Soundblaster audigy 2 plantium?

I know a lot of people said the soundblaster card isn't for recording, but when I look at the spec, both card are 24bit/96khz for recording. And the soundblaster card has better frequency response that the 2496. (22hz-22Khz vs 10Hz - 46Khz)
It also seems the audigy 2 has more features and softwares...

Also, would the soundblaster card sound better in terms of audio play back?

I am not sure does the spec mean anything at all...i own neither and is planning to own either...so I want comments...

If the 2496 is better at recording, how much better is it compare to the audigy 2 plantium? Is it a big difference, or just a little bit better?
What i care most is clarity and distortion level. (My old sound car has quite a bit of noise and distort quite easily even the volume isn't too high.)

Btw, my equipment: Apex 430 condenser mic, Behringer Mx802A mixer.

i actually haven't used either card, but i thought i'd just pipe in and say that you should putvery little faith in any spec that talks about frequency response in terms of SIZE ... i.e. 22-22kHz. That doesn't mean anything. Well, it does, but there are so many ways that could be measured, it's just not worth anything to say it.
 
I've got any audigy and its great for gaming but i think that even the Audigy 2 still wont be as good as the audiophile for recording. The D/A converters will be nowhere near as good quality, also i think the Audigy2 still doesnt record in 24/96..could be wrong but i'd check. I know it plays back.
 
it (the Audiophile) will be substantially better...maybe not noticable as much on a single track, but as the track count goes up, you will see a difference....
 
If someone said they would give me an audigy for free.... I would rather instead pay to have the audiophile.
