Pity the poor Chessrock. So put upon in his lone belief that he is right and everone else is soooooo wrong. Get over it. You appointed yourself spam policeman and chief newbie hazer, so live with it. If you don't like it, go hang out over at the rec pit.

Look, Freshy. I appointed myself spokesman for the voice of reason; something that still seems to be sorely lacking around here. This was by no means a "lone belief." As I pointed out, two of the board's moderators sided with me, as did one of the major vocal leaders of this board. I wasn't exactly going out on a limb or anything, Freshy.

And it wasn't like I was soooo smart or anything. I was just one of the very, very few non-idiots. Their loss is a major addition through subtraction, although it looks like we still have a few leftovers.

Why am I still seeing this thread here? C'mon guys.

chessrock,

i voiced my opinion also that it was wrong for Harvey to threaten to leave over what was being said against Alan.......

it wasnt about that.....it was about the personal attacks and words you chose........

Freshy. I like that. Make sure you say it in a "Triumph the Insult Comic Dog Voice". ;)

We must have differing memories of that situation. Maybe someday I'll go back and re-read that thread for old times sake. As for moderators intervening, I couldn't tell you. I'm fairly certain that it wasn't this forum's mod that said something but I may be entirely wrong. Lump me in with the Alan wacko's if you want to, it's a convenient label and then you really don't have to deal with the substance of anything I say. Spam is in the eye of the beholder, and a lot of us didn't think it was.

So, we're pretty much where we all started in all this mess. You're a pretty smart guy, chess. You should act like one more often.

You're right, I completely disagree with what Ed said about Harvey. It's not for a moderator to fix though. You'll see, the problem is already mending itself.

Gidge, Harvey really got my blood boiling at that point. He's a valued member and I love the guy to death, but he took things too far -- and what I said needed to be said at the time and in the context of the argument. Harvey waged a very personal and unfair attack on his part and it was directed towards me.

But I still love the guy. :D I don't see why it's so unusual for people to get mad at one another and really have it out, verbally, and not forgive and forget. We do it all the time with our spouses and girlfriends, don't we?

But usually it's the woman who drags up things you said in an argument last year. :D You're acting like a chick. This is not the stuff guys do -- unless they're psychologically stunted. Gidge, it seems to me like you need to learn the "Anything said in an argument more than 3 months ago is null and void" rule. Us guys gotta' stick together.

Do you understand that, Gidge?

No off-topic threads, though. Delete this piece of crap.

that was just a quote to show that Slack didnt agree with what you said about Harvey....

as the first quotes I posted were in response to you making the statement that you are the one that most wants Harvey here.....

this thread wasnt meant to address the "Harvey" situation.....Im just adressing issues you are bringing up.......

I don't know where the drama Chess has quoted was played out, but if it was in the mic forum then there are one or two errors..............Dobro wasn't (or isn't) the mic forum moderator, that dubious honour belongs to Recording Engineer.

RE had previously made the judgement that Alan Hyatt was not spamming............I'm not saying that it was a correct or incorrect call on RE's part, BUT as it was the moderators decision, it should have been respected, unfortunately it hasn't been.

Dragon, in the days when he was still occasionally active here was aware of what was happening........the reason he has never stepped into the "spam allegations" are because he thought there were a few high profile members and not just AH who while benefiting from their "profile" here, contributed more than they got out of it.

BTW, Chess.........wipe the side of your mouth.

As others have pointed out, I didn't threaten to leave in support of Alan - I threatened to leave because of the disrespect shown to another human being. If you look at some of Alan's first postings, I was the first one to blast him for putting a spin on some facts, and even threatened to stop all my evaluation of his products.

Ed, for whatever reasons, entered into the ensuing fray, and in later private emails, apologized for his statements. Whether anybody was right or wrong is less important to me than at least being somewhat civil about it. There's no need to hound or trash somebody personally for their opinions or their beliefs. That's what got me mad a year ago, and it's still happening here.

I was just asking that some common courtesy be shown then; it's still all I'm asking for. DJL tried to imply that I just "hung out with some people" and I was using that as my credentials.

As with Ed, I clarified exactly what I had contributed to those people's careers, and left it at that. And yes, I've attacked DJL for posting "suppositions" that he posted as "established facts", but I don't think I've ever resorted to trying to trash him personally, or Chessrock, for that matter.

Lately, I've tried to respond in kind, but even that gets tiresome, as that just ain't me. I think I'm coming around to where I'll simply take the attitude of "Believe me or don't believe me; it's not all that important to me.".

Chessrock and DJL are both valuable contributors to this forum, except (in my humble opinion), when somebody pushes their "hot buttons". Equally, I suppose, the exact same thing can probably be said of me. It's just a different "hot button" for me, and it's probably a generational thing. I grew up in a different time, with different values.

I think the great 20th century philosopher Rodney King said it best when he said, "Can't we all just get along?"

I can only add, "without trashing someone personally?".

A hem....

I sure enjoy using microphones (all types and brands) to make recordings.... and learning (as well as sharing) all types of constructive information...

Yep, I do...

Correction: What Ed said.

Can't lump me in with that guy. Two very different people with different agendas. I try and speak for the voice of reason. DJL tries to speak for . . . um . . . I'll get back with ya when I figure that one out. :D

I remember the whole deal just as chessrock pointed out. Now, I know it's almost Friday and all... but, I also think it's time we all start getting along and stop trashing each other. Did I spell that out ok? ;)

Only lumped together as "valuable contributors, IMO", but with somewhat different "hot buttons".

DJL, you are just an opinionated asshole with no credibilty to back up anything you say. Your 3000+ posts of nonsense speak volumes about your "experience". Your lack of even basic conversational skills or the ability to form a coherent thought continue to amaze me. I have met some flaky bass players in my day, but you take the prize. Congratulations. And for God's sake, learn the difference between your and you're and their, there and they're. Repeat the 4th grade if necessary.

Oh, yeah, it's "damn" you moron. You can't even cuss right.

So don't expect too much.
