"Hey Harvey . . .
If you want to know why I don't respect you . . .

It's because of this crap.

You always pull that "I'm leaving the board" stuff out. Then you keep pushing it to the point that you have people groveling and begging you to stay.

I'm sick of it. Leave if you don't like it here. But don't make a big show of it and reduce people to sick, grovellers getting on their hands and knees pleading with you. You show no respect to the people who love you and support you.

That's just a pile of crap, and you know it. And if you want to know why I show you such little respect, it's because of that."
geez... this has turned into exactly the shit you despise... Harvey can take up for himself, but f*ck... IMO you owe Harvey an apology... man did you ever have an adolescent moment...

I've noticed a lot of posters here have a very low tolerance for others posting stuff they already know... as though they were born with the knowledge and have exclusive rights or something...

this a pissin' match now... ciao

those are chessrock quotes, and all relevant to my point in some wierd twisted way.....

sorry i forgot to give chess credit for his quotes....theres more, but im sure thats enuff to show theres probably a few people that want Harvey back more.......

as far as exclusive rights to knowledge, chessrock seems to think newbies should stay in the newbie forum and has vowed to flame and "haze" them for asking newbie questions......and he has shown time and again that he is living up to that....i cant see how that can be tolerated.....that goes beyond censorship......

what if people like Harvey did that to those of us who are a little past newbie.....the famous mic thread would have never happened.......

i think if chessrock came from behind his net persona he would be more helpful......i dont think he would take the tone to these people if he was face to face with them.........

And not before I framed a less than admirable response to you, calling you every name in the book; then I realized I'd read those lines before, and thought I'd better wait till I figured out what was going on. Glad I didn't hit "Send".

And besides, I am rubber and you are glue
Whatever you call me bounces off of me and sticks to you :)

my bad......:D

I'm sure I started a thread along these lines a couple of months ago, and have read 3 or 4 more the same since.

I'm still fairly new, and there's still loads of reading to be done here, but for more sedate and detailed information this just ain't the place cos of all the shit flying around.

I don't know Harvey, or any of those people he mentioned, but it looks to me like he knows his shit, as do chessrock, chessparov, Gidge and many more. I'm not saying I don't care his reputation, but as a newbie I can only judge on what I read.

That's why I like Alan, I wasn't here when he started and now it looks to me like he's a helpful contributor, so who the hell am I to begrudge him some good PR as a result of coming on here?

Gidge is right, it is the same old shit, but the original point about moderation is still the strongest case for dealing with it IMO, not another one of these threads. Let's get some new moderators before we all piss off to RP.

Gidge,

Those quotes made me wonder what was going on for a minute. ;) ;)

Chess,

Believing that your own opinion (whatever it is or however twisted it may be), is correct only makes it correct for you.
It doesn't justify hazing newbies who ask "uneducated" questions. It doesn't justify the offensive comments you have directed at certain experienced individuals. It doesn't justify the continual sniping (hidden behind the ubiquitous smiley face) almost every second time Alan Hyatt or Studio Projects surface.

The fact that you have attempted to deflect the direction this thread was originally aimed just about says it all.

Well, perhaps in your own very twisted way, those words were relevant.

As in if you were talking about an argument we had last freakin' year . . .

then yea, I suppose it would be very relevent, wouldn't it, Gidge. I stand by them in the sense that they were relevant at that particular time, and in the context of what was going on and what was being said at that time.

I can't believe you've taken your pitty party to new and unprecedented levels by reviving that whole shitstorm we had a year ago.

Are you really that bored, Gidge?

You know . . . Maybe you're right. We do need more moderator involvement. This sad, pathetic thread of yours that never served any constructive point other than to advertise to the world that Gidge is having a bad day . . .

. . . needs to be chucked out the door.

And if you had any dignity left whatsoever, you would exercise your power and have this thread deleted pronto. Idioto. If you want to know why I get a little testy with people here sometimes, let this thread stand as exibit freakin' A.

I have no idea what's going on in your life so as to make you so bitter these past few days, and why you've chosen to take it out on this board . . . but if you need someone to talk to, feel free to call me any time, dude. I'm at 773-235-5795. I'm saying this because I'm sensing you might need someone to talk to. Maybe I'm over-reacting, but you've got me a little concerned.

And if you had the balls to admit you were the main character in that shitfest that drove several people off this bbs, and took responsibility and apologised for your asshole behavior, maybe this subject wouldn't come up again and again.

"If you want to know why I get a little testy with people here sometimes..."

C'mon, do you thing you're god or something? Who gives a shit what you think of people here. You seem to feel it's up to you to monitor posts here and pass judgment on them - get real.

Im not bored, tired, depressed, in a bad mood,etc.....

Im just making an observation.......

It seems you are the one thats bored.....it takes more time and energy to constantly cut down newbies when it would be quicker and easier to just past the thread by and let someone answer who can be more helpful........

if i call, will you talk dirty to me.....

NEWBIES:
Just starting? Afraid to ask a stupid question? Don't worry, in here nobody will laugh at you. But if it's on a topic covered in another forum, best to post it there.

hmmm.....yes theres a newbies forum......but if the question is about mics and theres a mic forum, its best to post it there according to the rules....and what do you get by doing that?......Newbie Flambe'.......

I think everyone on this bbs has something to offer (some more than others)... even the newbee's, just give them some time. Maybe we should all set our differences aside and start over... because I too thiink this is one of the best bbs's on the internet... sure it could be better, but that's going to take work from all of us, working together rather than busting each others balls. Like some of you, I've also been in the music business for a long time... I'm just not a name dropper nor do I toot my own horn... but, there is still a lot I can learn from all of you here and I'm more than willing to help those of you here when I can.

DJ -

I just got done posting a rather nasty message to you in the C4 thread. I'll ask this here: Could you maybe just tweet the horn a bit so we know what you're about? It might clear up a lot of misunderstandings.

DJL, in his quest for knowledge, has made some very offensive statements....while his questions and concerns MAY be legit, the way he goes about them at times turns my stomach.....

if it does turn out that he is a respected member of the audio world, i will be disappointed ......

Main character? :D Jesus. You give me way too much credit.

In case it escaped you, that particular shitstorm was an ensemble cast.

Look no further than Sonusman if you want to see a guy who really drew the nail in that particular coffin. I suppose I could pull up his quotes, but I don't exactly feel the need to go dredging up the past and sifting through the dirt. Maybe Gidge could volunteer -- he seems to be good at that kind of thing.

Why bring up the same sad story again? Is it something you really want to re-live? Apparently so.

For anyone intersted in the real story, here goes:

The cliffnotes version is that Alan started spamming again . . . I protested . . . Harvey stood up for Alan . . . insults flew all over the place by anyone with an opinion . . . and the forum basically divided itself in to two camps.

All of the wacko Hyatt supporters called for the moderator. "Moderator!" they all cried. Finally, Dobro (the moderator) came along and laid down his verdict. And guess what? He ruled against all the wackos calling for him. Against Alan and against Harvey (who put himself squarely behind him). In the midst of all of this mess, Harvey decided to protest Dobro's "verdict" by leaving the forum. And in the process, he made it out to look as if he was leaving "because of Chessrock and Sonusman."

. . . basically dragging both of our names through the mud and forever labeling us "The guys who drove away Harvey." :D Which is pretty much a pile of bullshit. I took exception to his tactics, and uttered the quotes that Gidge was so kind and thoughtful enough to drag up again. Way to go, Gidge! For the record, my words were very polite compared to those of Sonusman. :D

Ed and I happended to hold the same basic opinion at the time and expressed it -- the same opinion held by many, by the way. The problem is that we were basically the only ones with the guts to say anything, as those on the opposing camp did not play fair. I wouldn't want anyone else to be subject to the continued lashings that we were subject to, so I don't blame them for not coming out. I was happy to take the beatings for them. :D

Anyone with half a brain and half an understanding of the world should have known what was going on. The rules of this forum are clear -- no spam and no censorship. Dobro and Slackmaster chose to uphold the original rules of the board. Sonusman cast his vote of agreement. So did I and many others. And if you would have taken a gander at some of the informal poles taken in the cave at the time, you would have noticed that most of the board did, too.

The ones making the biggest stink about it all were in the minority. Although it seemed like they were the majority because they were making the most noise.

I reiterate for your benefit, Crazydoc. The moderators spoke. The case was closed. No one drove anyone away. Some people just didn't agree with the verdict and felt the need to leave in protest. And in the process, figured they might drag a few peoples' name through the mud on the way out. Kind of a parting shot at your enemy. It was pretty low if you ask me, and yes, it hurt my respect for Harvey.

Since it was so long ago, I have basically gotten over it. Untill some of you inbreeds decided to bring all the old wounds back to the surface.

I don't know if there are any of you left out there who supported me in these efforts. Most of you were pretty silent at the time, but instead expressed your support by way of private messages. They were literally filled to the brim at the time by some of you guys telling me stuff like: "Don't let them intimidate you." "I'm behind you," etc. etc.

I really appreciated it, and if any of you are still out there, I am going to call on you to return the favor: Look for the option that says "Report this thread to a moderator." Include a note that says something like:

"Please delete this thread, as it has nothing to do with microphones. Nor is it in any way, shape or form constructive towards the goal of improving our recordings. Please chuck it."

You can even copy and paste the above words if you're lazy like me. :D And I will appreciate your support.

Pity the poor Chessrock. So put upon in his lone belief that he is right and everone else is soooooo wrong. Get over it. You appointed yourself spam policeman and chief newbie hazer, so live with it. If you don't like it, go hang out over at the rec pit.

And yes, I reported your post to the moderator.

Oh man, this is about to get silly all over. Guys just chill out a bit. Chess, forget this thread please and go back to making the witty comments we all enjoy. Everyone else, stand away cos there's nothing really to see here.

C'mon, even DJL has been a voice of calm so this must really be a needless argument. Take Gidge's point that we should think whether or not hazing is worthwhile for us or anyone on the receiving end of it, and then go find something else to write about. Please!
