And if you had the balls to admit you were the main character in that shitfest that drove several people off this bbs, and took responsibility and apologised for your asshole behavior, maybe this subject wouldn't come up again and again.
Main character?

Jesus. You give me way too much credit.
In case it escaped you, that particular shitstorm was
an ensemble cast.
Look no further than Sonusman if you want to see a guy who really drew the nail in that particular coffin. I suppose I could pull up his quotes, but I don't exactly feel the need to go dredging up the past and sifting through the dirt. Maybe Gidge could volunteer -- he seems to be good at that kind of thing.
Why bring up the same sad story again? Is it something you really want to re-live? Apparently so.
For anyone intersted in
the real story, here goes:
The cliffnotes version is that Alan started spamming again . . . I protested . . . Harvey stood up for Alan . . . insults flew all over the place by anyone with an opinion . . . and the forum basically divided itself in to two camps.
All of the wacko Hyatt supporters called for the moderator. "Moderator!" they all cried. Finally, Dobro (the moderator) came along and laid down his verdict. And guess what? He ruled
against all the wackos calling for him. Against Alan and against Harvey (who put himself squarely behind him). In the midst of all of this mess, Harvey decided to protest Dobro's "verdict" by leaving the forum. And in the process, he made it out to look as if he was leaving "because of Chessrock and Sonusman."
. . . basically dragging both of our names through the mud and forever labeling us "The guys who drove away Harvey."

Which is pretty much a pile of bullshit. I took exception to his tactics, and uttered the quotes that Gidge was so kind and thoughtful enough to drag up again. Way to go, Gidge! For the record, my words were very polite compared to those of Sonusman.
Ed and I happended to hold the same basic opinion at the time and expressed it -- the same opinion held by many, by the way. The problem is that
we were basically the only ones with the guts to say anything, as those on the opposing camp
did not play fair. I wouldn't want anyone else to be subject to the continued lashings that we were subject to, so I don't blame them for not coming out. I was happy to take the beatings for them.
Anyone with half a brain and half an understanding of the world should have known what was going on. The rules of this forum are clear -- no spam and no censorship. Dobro and Slackmaster chose to uphold the original rules of the board. Sonusman cast his vote of agreement. So did I and many others. And if you would have taken a gander at some of the informal poles taken in the cave at the time, you would have noticed that
most of the board did, too.
The ones making the biggest stink about it all were in the minority. Although it
seemed like they were the majority because they were making the most noise.
I reiterate for your benefit, Crazydoc. The moderators spoke. The case was closed.
No one drove anyone away. Some people just didn't agree with the verdict and felt the need to leave in protest. And in the process, figured they might drag a few peoples' name through the mud on the way out. Kind of a parting shot at your enemy. It was pretty low if you ask me, and yes, it hurt my respect for Harvey.
Since it was so long ago, I have basically gotten over it. Untill some of you inbreeds decided to bring all the old wounds back to the surface.
I don't know if there are any of you left out there who supported me in these efforts. Most of you were pretty silent at the time, but instead expressed your support by way of private messages. They were literally filled to the brim at the time by some of you guys telling me stuff like: "Don't let them intimidate you." "I'm behind you," etc. etc.
I really appreciated it, and if any of you are still out there, I am going to call on you to return the favor: Look for the option that says "Report this thread to a moderator." Include a note that says something like:
"Please delete this thread, as it has nothing to do with microphones. Nor is it in any way, shape or form constructive towards the goal of improving our recordings. Please chuck it."
You can even copy and paste the above words if you're lazy like me.

And I will appreciate your support.
