Hi folks!

I just got a Sony ECM-MS957 Stereo Mic to use with my computer's SB sound card. I have been using the cheapo plastic unit that came with the computer...with pretty decent results.

The issue is...the sound card states that the Mic imput impedance is 600 ohms..as well...so is the mic's output impedance (according to the manual)..

When I use this new mic plugged into that input (of the sound card).it sounds very thin and zero bass response.

If I swap the mic's plug into the Line input of the sound card (spec'd at 20K ohms), it sounds whole lots better....but not quite as much gain.

I am curious as to why a $2 mic sounds so darn good in that Mic input..while a $200 one sounds really bad?

Any comments would be appreciated!
