MOSQUITO
------------------
First Listen : (Mid Level Consumer Jam Box)
Vox is generally mixed to low, listen to the B-52's mixes, the vox is mixed way,
way, way, way out front ... big time way on top of the mix ... when I think B-52's the first
thing that comes into my mind is the lead vox, because that's the hook here.
There seems to be a flange on your vocal. The vocal is very sparse here, mix it dry and
straightforward, just like you are singing it. If you are using effects, there needs to be an artistic reason for using them, not 'jus cuz soun cool dode ... although sometimes that's valid also
The rythm guitar is dry, it's not 'in the same room' as the vox. I'm thinking it should be the other way around IMHO, (in my humble opinion), the vox should be dry, the rythm guitar with a bit of reverb ...
The vox is sparse, the rythm guitar is actually kind of minimalistic, the lead that occurs is very efficient, the whole song is very ... minimal. The minimal use of effects might be called for here also.
Also, we on this board want to hear YOU sing, not an effects box ... any dork can cover up his voice in layers of crap ... we want to hear the mosquito buzz

!
And by the way ... you can sing, you sing generally in tune, and say and pronounce the words where we can understand them ... so you don't NEED to use the effects ... only to enhance your voice and here you are a 'mosquito' so what kind of effect should you use for a mosquito ... ? Not a flange.
When you mix your vox DRY and OUT FRONT, that really gives the members of the board the opportunity to give you direction on where to go with the mix ...
I like this tune, it's nice, simple, original even though you are 'copping a genre' ...
