I posted a basic version of the idea of this song a few weeks ago and said we'd record it properly this weekend. Well Phil (drums and vocals) fell sick from over indulgence of which I could take some blame for....but..anyway we did it this weekend.

hey Scott, did you want it to cut off at 1:01? I think something happened.. It was sounding good up to that point. I'll check it out later just in case theres a full version up or I did something wrong on my end..

this song hits me LIKE a really loooong intro...especially with the drums coming in so late in the song. The 'tiny' gtrs (and all the other guitars wanking away in there!) sound good, and panned nicely and compliment each other very well....for the most part. I'll comment on those later. Kinda a Leprechan kinda feel to it...for some reason...maybe the sqeaky clean, high pitched soloing. The bass is really on the other end of the spectrum, comparitively with the rest of the tracks. The vocals seem to be the only thing approaching middle ground. Even when the drums come in, the song seems to end shortly thereafter...and I'm left feeling a weird sense of song structure and production just zipped thru my ears. For some reason, I miss the racous guitars you've had in the past, and a thicker, dryer, more "early Who" drum sound you've gotten in the past. Maybe, leaving out some guitars in spots might help dynamically with the song for me...rather than them all just slugging it out from beginning to end. It certainly worked with the bass coming in later at the beginning and stopping between verses. At the first bass drop out, I would have probably left a couple more guitars out too.. I also probably would have started the drums as early as :33....and come and go with the other instruments, like I said before.
One final thought on the guitars, however....they have a sound like there are about 3 or more tracks of them...same guitar all recorded one after another, even the lead one too... and they start to pile up quickly.

hey Scott, it's B.Sabbath,

I liked it and I thought it sounded great.. I can see mixmkr's points about starting the drums sooner.. I would think to make the tune longer and have more of it with drums though.. I do know if you want my opinion on that sort of thing, but I did like it a lot.. There were Zeppelin qualities in it IMOP.. I wanted it to be longer with more drums..

I really liked your other tune 'Public Relations.' It is one of my favorites ever heard in the clinic. This one is good though, and the sound and mix is very good IMOP..

very cool tune

Thanks mixmkr, its a totally dirfferent spin on things from me this one. I don't usually spend this much time on a mix too?. Wasn't my usual drum micing setup either. But I don't mind the sounds. I think I should just pull some of it back to allow for better song dynamics. Like you said it does get a little busy later on and doesn't need to. That early "WHO" drum sound that I usually get might not work with this song so much though. Thanks for the words.

yeah I dig this...

I liked the other version as well...

I think the drum sound/mix etc. are all excellent on my stereo. Sounds awesome....the drums do end kinda quickly...

but, I don't know if I would want them to start sooner...I kinda enjoy the nice "hollow" intro.

Nice work.

Cool, no ones comented on my $&# cough, attempt at violin.
Oh no, maybe thats the problem!

Hey wes480, glad you liked the drum sound. You won't beleave the mic setup. It was just one sure 58 mic above the kit pointing down towards the kick drum. Then heavily eq'ed. Then I went the oposite way and got carried away with the guitars.
