Song Recorded, Mixed & Mastered on TASCAM DP24 Digital Multi-Track

Hey All

Country & Christian Artist here, who normally uses my Producer & Session Players for my releases....Can't afford to do that on every single tune...

So I forced myself to do a song entirely by myself on the TASCAM DP24 Digital Multi-track to see what I could actually do on my own and on my stand-alone unit only. (No Computer Mixing, editing or outboard Mastering)...This is the first song done on this unit completely on my own...

I wrote the song & I played all the Instruments...Acoustic Guitar Breedlove C-25 SME & used my KORG TRITON EXTREME for Drums, Keys, Bass, & Strings. I Sang the Lead Vocal along with the 3 part harmony on BGV's......Recorded, Mixed & Mastered completely & entirely on the DP24..

All opinions & thoughts on the Overall performance & Arrangement of the song & of course Mix & MASTERING are more than welcome....New arena for me self-recording, but I want to see where I'm at....

Great tune but the link didn't work so I went to Search and found you. Like I said it's a great tune and arrangement and I can only say anything to change would be personal preference. The volume was a little low if this is mastered compared to today's LOUD standards. Inspiring to sum it up!

I really like the way the background vocals are mixed in. Like ido1957 said, its a little quiet, but that's not too big of a deal. I feel like the acoustic guitar could be a little bit more full, it sounds to direct, if that makes sense. Maybe a cut in the high-mids. I'm also new to this so I'm not the best to critique but I thought I would try to help!

Thanks for the input & yeah....The Volume is a concern....I peaked at qbout to -4Db on the mix....Then Mastered.....This was unfortunately recorded at 16 Bit 44.1 Hz....(Didn't know better) so I mixed it there....Not concerned with the LOUDNESS WAR...but I would like this one up a couple of Db's, but I maxed it and couldn't get it louder at MASTER....

Not sure what to do to get it louder as for MASTERING, still unsure as to how it all works together....

The change from single guitar on one side to full band across the stereo image was a bit sudden for me.
Personally I'd stagger at least one instrument in to craete a simple stereo image before the full band.
The synth strings sound very cheesy.
I the bass centred? I hear as being slightly off centre & slightly off putting.
Generally well played.
I'd be careful about the lyric too:
"I love to love you lord, from the rising of the sun 'til the stars shine up above" can be read as you backsliding severely in the dark.
If you want the message to be absorbed and understood you need to get the story fairly accurate.

Thx on the BGV's...it took me a whole day to sing and record tehm...doubled each part...did section by section.....Gotta figure out 'how" to get my Master a little bit louder, cause I agree...Yes the Guitar was recorded Direct & with a Mic....I simply used both identical performances...I had used a direct only before and the consensus was it stuck out....this one not as much...as I get a better Mic acoustic sound I'm sure I'll abandon the direct approach...
