hey folks, i need your ideas, how much do you think i should charge this singer, he gave me few songs to produce, now they are complete, but im not to sure how much i should charge him, what do you fink?? take a listen and how much would you quote this singer if you did the music for him( in english money) does £100 sounds good for 1 song??

I didn't listen to the song because that's almost irrelelevant. First of all, you're not in the right forum for that. You should put this in the Mixing/Mastering section. But, to answer your question:
It depends on many things.

What kind of gear do you have?
Do you have a "real" studio or are you mixing in your basement???
How much experience do you have mixing?

Personally, I've heard your mixes for your songs, and while they're pretty good, they could use some improvement, as can most of us who aren't professional engineers/producers. So the next question to ask is: "Is he aware that he won't get a professional job or will he ask you to re-do it until he's happy?" There are alot of factors to consider before just saying "This is what you should charge him."

you've brought that horrid vocal effect back in on the top track in the list. It REALLY is distracting & gimmicky. If it's what the client wants you should at least minimize it.
You should have negotiated BEFORE beginning.
Is the stuff going off to be mastered? Have you "mastered" in house?
If you are giving him all the mixed & raw tracks/material at the end so he can take it elsewher for a remix if he wants then charge whatever he's willing to pay but remember your reputation is attached to the stuff. Ask him to make an offer & then work your way up from there.
You'll probably find that doing this now no one wil be stisfied or comletely happy with the end price.

Why are you beating the hell out of that vocal effect.......that made my scrotum draw up the first time they used that on cher and then they only did it a few times.....gimmicks do not a good song make! A great performer and a great performance makes a good song.......you can't polish a turd , it will never shine.....move on to making things sound better, and make the singer do it over and over untill he or she gets it right...the singer wil appreciate it in the end. Not only do you have to be engineer, producer and techie guy, you have to be mommy, daddy, vocal coach and cheerleader to people that come into your studio.

I gave it a quick listen.

I agre with the other posts on the vocoder effect being a bit to much, unless the guy asked for it.

It dident sound like anything other than a homerecording, not bad, kinda lofi synths\samples.

tell you what, present them to your client, if he think its great, then at least thats settled.

You sound like you havent had to many customers, give the guy a good price and perhaps word will spread, and you`ll get some more jobs.

Yes slightly overdone with the vocal effect but it does need a little of that because this kinda music has always got that effect...id charge him a tenner a song..as your only learning too (or are you as you dont list how long you been mixing) ..so take what you would work for in a day in that line of work.

Whos your client, Stephen Hawking? Nah man im not a fan of the Vocoder at all, it makes stuff sound cheap..unless of course there is a very clear reason for using it and sparingly i might add. As for what i or anybody else would charge its irrelevent, you can only decide what its worth to you and your client. If he walks away satisfied then that is the main thing.
