I was using sonar happily for about a month, got hit by a virus, reinstalled windows, audio drivers, sonar, and now I have a problem:

Every time I try to record a separate track, it acts as though I'm trying to mix down all my other tracks onto that track.

So, I hit record for track 1, play along to tracks 2+3. Then I playback track one in solo mode to discover that it mixed down 2+3, as well as my mic input.

What port are you plugged into on your sound card? Line In?

If so, go into the Windows Mixer. Select Options > Properties, and click the Record radio button. Make sure Line In is one of the choices and click OK.

Then on the next page click the select check box for Line In.

It does record my line in, but instead of a single track recording *just* my line in, it will record all other tracks as well.

For example, I'll record guitar on track one... works fine. But when I try to add a vocal on track 2, it will register my vocals, but will also include/bounce anything from track 1: track 2 ends up being a copy of track 1, plus my new vocals. (Yeah, I'm using headphones. :)

Make sure just the Line In is enabled for recording.

The point is that you probably have "stereo mix" or "what U hear" selected. Those choices will include your Line In port, but they will also include anything else passing through the sound card.

You should have Line In selected.

Wow,I just noticed that Alchucks got more posts than Dachay.

Oh, I feel stupid. :)

How frustrating that was. Thanks so much.

I knew there was a reason why he's smarter than me. :)
