Rock Steady
I have some 32 bit files I need to import to Sonar 2 .2 XL but it only supports 24 bit. What are my options here? I have used dbpoweramp to convert, win lame, and wavelab and I get nothing but noise. The only thing I haven`t used is sound forge. What can I do? Help please !!!!

Sound forge will do it. Check to see if the demo let's you save ;)

You might also try the latest version of Goldwave.

Yes, but so should Wavelab.

Is there any chance that the file might be corrupted?

I have SF 6. and it will save , I just dont use it. I`ll load it back up tonite and try. Wavelab rendered 24 bit noise.

Its possible the files are corrupt, but unlikely.

Kenny, when you first open up the files in Wavelab, do they play OK? Is it only after you convert them that you get the noise - or are you getting noise immediately upon opening.

If the latter (upon opening), then I suspect the files themselves are bad.

If the former, describe how you are doing the conversion.

I appreciate yall throwing ropes. I'mm at work and busier than a cat covering up ice cream, i`ll answer these question a little later when I get home... :)

Opening the files in Wavelab, dbpoweramp, winlame, or SoundForge reveals a solid block of data the duration of the file with a tiny little strip of audio hanging off the bottom. They are all white noise sounding when played, and if saved as 24 bit @ any frequency. They are CEP 32 bit files. Corrupt? I dont know.

Do you have CEP on that machine? Sounds like it is installing a specific 32-bit codec which is different enough to be not recognised by the defaults in SF, WL etc....

quite logical. I had as well, assumed it was a proprietary issue after that many tries, or either having corrupt files. However the files were tried on the other end with no problem, that pretty much spells proprietary in this case. I`m gettin a new cd sent to me with 24 bit files. I dont have CEP, I only use PA9 and Sonar 2.2.
