Is there a list of items that should come with this program installation. I just got it and installed. While trying it out (complete newbie) I have been following some you tube instructions. Problem is that my soft synth does not show BFD, VST or possible others available. Are these plug-ins I am suppost to have or purchase seperately?

Does it show the softsynths that come with Sonar??? Like Session Drummer or Dimension LE???

There is SecessionDrummer 2.
P.S. this is the producer edition

try this:

Tools > Cakewalk Plug-in Manager

There should be a list of the enabled plugs. There is also a button to scan for VST plugs.

Be sure you register all the plugs from Cakewalk and other manufacturers or they may not appear in the list.

Under "Plugin categories" select VST instruments. The column on the right should display all registered plugins. Also, if you are using a dual-drive setup be sure all your plugs are on the same drive as Sonar. Only your audio should be going to the second drive.

If you're running Windows 7 by any chance, right click and run Sonar as an Administrator. I don't know why, but my install of Dimension Pro will not work if I don't run as admin. It's worth a shot.

i got sonar 8.5 producer.... love it.... i just purchased a keyrig49 and of course like soo many, could not get the keyrig software to work properly ( latency, loading sounds wouldnt work, etc etc........ software sucks) then i used it straight into sonar and the soft synths and worked awesome.... gotta love sonar

Mike 2005 - I just got the keyrig 49 as well...and after a lot of trouble trying to get the software to work on Windows 7, there is an updater available (I tried inserting the link, but it wouldn't let me - so go to the m-audio website, to support, to knowledge bank. Search for 'keyrig updater' and it will take you to the download page).

If you install the keyrig software, then run the updater before you open the keyrig program, it will skip the certify step and then it magically works (it was very frustrating figuring that whole thing out, so hope that helps anyone else out there, because I couldn't find the updater link to save my life).

Moving on. I'm just starting with sonar xl producer (like today, so I'm a newbie...be nice). I'm able to record and apply effects to my regular audio tracks (guitar, vocals etc). But I can't seem to get this working right with the midi controller for synth or drum sounds. Here's where I'm at:

I create a midi track. I select the keyrig 49 as my controller (input). I select the same output as my other tracks (to my soundcard). I have no idea what Midi Channel to select, so I l randomly picked one. 'Bank' is checked, but I don't know what that is. Patch - I just chose the accordian as a test.

So - If I hit the keys it is reading a level. It will record midi data on that track. But there is no sound. On monitoring or playback. Help.

Make sure the Echo Input button on the track is turned on. It's right next to the "R" button on the track. It passes the MIDI signal to the soft synth.

The yellow light is input ON, the purple light is Auto Thru.

I just now read you comment. I don't know where you were but I was serving in the USAF IN KOREA in 1986. 3 new words of advice

BTW this didn't help me get my stuff up and running at all!
