But it just can't be cooler...![]()
Hey Moskus,SteveD said:YES, YES, YES!!! How do I do that? When I have Input Monitoring enabled for all tracks, EVERY input device plugged into the DAW is live and feeding audio through the mains.
How do I set the system to be Input Monitoring Enabled, but ENGAGED only when the Record Enable buttion is selected?
This would make me a 3.0 fan again!

Wops! Sorry, I forgot. I'll try to get the hold of them tonight.SteveD said:Did you ever find out from the music store how they have Sonar 3 configured to allow the above?

In trying to duplicate the look of a real console the designers have included dozens of "knobs." Trying to turn a knob with a mouse is the most ridiculous and frustrating concept I have ever come across.
Consoles were designed for human hands. Why on earth, when working on a computer, would you want to use a device designed for your hands. You need an interface designed for use with a mouse.
Possibly, if you are using a hardware interface, this makes some sense. But working from a mouse and keyboard, the design is quite lame (IMHO) - no matter how cool it looks.
In using Sonar's Track View, you have all the same exact capabilities as the console, but an interface that was designed for a computer.
My $.02.
I don't like the Console View because of that!!!!!moskus said:
Dachay, you're just saying that because you don't like the Console.![]()

Yeah, right!dachay2tnr said:I don't like the Console View because of that!!!!!
Okay, that's enough anti-Sonar talk out of you... Go away!Teacher said:after i'm done with a beat i'll record it to audio OMF it then convert the omf into a samplitude edl for mixing...i use samp for mixing cuz aesthetically its more pleasing, flow is more fluid(IMO), sounded better, and (the most important) was 100 times more stable...maybe its my system...but when i start running tons of tracks wit plug-ins i get drop-outs and even worse computer freezes...i'm talkin about i can't even ctrl-Alt-del(this only started occuring when i got my lynxtwo though)..while with samplitude my cpu usage can go over 100% and it'll STILL PLAY...it'll play with a bunch of crackles but NO DROP OUTS!...and even when the program crashes(happened maybe once or twice since i had it) it'll ask you if you want to close the program or continue i working....i always chose continue and it works fine like it didn't crash...
Okay... for anyone following this:SteveD said:Hey Moskus,

I've reverted to using S2, but still try experimenting in S3. Last night I discovered the need for higher buffer settings, and the trim controls on all analog tracks DO NOTHING... HAVE NO EFFECT in S3.
My list is getting longer!
I have emailed support@cakewalk.com. No response in two days. I will try calling them today. That ought to be time consuming.
I did pre-order with Cakewalk very early, like the first day of the shipping announcement.
Have I got a beta version or a lemmon here or WHAT?

Most of my issues with Sonar 3.0 seem to be related to the Mackie Control:

Turns out that the person who installed Sonar 3 and got it set up, was so annoyed by that Input Monitoring-button not being "connected" to the Arm-button, that he'd made a template with alot of tracks and he had grouped all Input Monitoring buttons and Arm buttons togheter...SteveD said:Hey Moskus,

Yes, but that only works correctly on the first 8 tracks. Bank over to 9-16 and the record button on the Mackie is still controlling the echo buttons 1-8 in Sonar 3.moskus said:Turns out that the person who installed Sonar 3 and got it set up, was so annoyed by that Input Monitoring-button not being "connected" to the Arm-button, that he'd made a template with alot of tracks and he had grouped all Input Monitoring buttons and Arm buttons togheter...![]()
